Overview
The European Network of Network Operators for Hydrogen (ENNOH) invites stakeholders to provide feedback on the Hydrogen Quality Public Consultation Groundwork Document, which supports the preparation of the Hydrogen Quality Monitoring Report 2026.
The consultation is carried out in line with Article 59 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1789 on the internal markets for renewable gas, natural gas and hydrogen, which tasks ENNOH with adopting a hydrogen quality monitoring report and updating it every two years. The Groundwork Document consolidates the most recent information available on hydrogen quality in Europe, including hydrogen purity and contaminants, and provides an overview of current practices, studies and regulatory approaches.
Purpose of the Consultation
The purpose of this consultation is to gather views from market participants, hydrogen transmission and distribution network operators, storage operators, industry representatives, regulators, standardisation bodies and other interested stakeholders on hydrogen quality issues.
Stakeholder feedback will support ENNOH in assessing current and emerging challenges related to hydrogen purity and contaminants, understanding differences across national frameworks, and identifying areas where further convergence is needed. The consultation will inform the preparation of the Hydrogen Quality Monitoring Report 2026 and contribute to future work on interoperability and data exchange at European level.
